MOST POPULAR WEDDING STYLES

Portrait. Here the photographer arranges key players, such as the bride, groom, their parents and the bridal party into formal poses. Although the popularity of photojournalism is growing, a few formal portraits are still wedding day must haves.

Photojournalism (Candid). A picture of your flower girl swiping a bit of frosting before the cake is cut. Your grandmother's expression as you make your way down the aisle. Your photographer catches these candid moments as he finds them, and often they turn out to be the most descriptive and emotional photos of the day.

Black-And-White. Adding instant sophistication to any shot, black-and-white photos remain popular with brides everywhere. Although your photographer will most likely be shooting in color, ask for a few shots in traditional black-and-white.

Color. Vibrant and descriptive, color photographs are also less expensive than black-and-whites. Even if you love the look of black-and-white shots, make sure you get some color pictures as well. Twenty years from now, you'll have a visual record to remind you of your bouquet's perfect shade of blue.

Action. Twirling on the dance floor, being lifted off your feet by your father's great big bear hug. These memories can be captured as they happen with action shots. Ask for a few pictures filled with motion and energy to add a bit of zest to your wedding album.

Detail. Your mother always told you it's the little things that count, and so you spent hours making sure that every wedding day detail was just perfect. Ask your photographer to get a shot of your favors, your flower girl's halo and the row of covered buttons down your back.

Sepia. These gorgeous photos, in a range of rich browns, give a look of old world elegance to your wedding photos.

Hand-Tinted. Your photographer can add subtle accents of color to your black-and-white photographs. Imagine a stunning black-and-white bridal portrait, with your bouquet of gerbera daisies providing a dramatic splash of magenta.

Infrared. These arty shots add ghostly auras and halos in black-and-white photos, and dramatic color shifts in color photos.

Fish Eye. Using a wide-angle lens, your photographer creates photos with a rounded effect. These pictures are great for sweeping shots of your ceremony and reception locations.
